$345,000.

Back in 2018 I did my first revenue share deal.

I helped this person build a $2M+ launch.

The deal was simple.

I received 15% of every dollar generated for building the marketing and sales systems of the business.

After a major launch…

The most successful in their journey I waited the 60 days agreed upon for the monthly payment.

It didn’t arrive.

I asked about it…

They said…

“Hey, we need to talk”.

Generally those words are never great and they didn’t want to pay it.

When I pressed further, I knew that this first time entrepreneur out of hubris wasn’t going to be the person I wanted to work with— or partner with.

In the end— I walked away.

If it was a case that they didn’t have the money or liquidity— we could figure it out.

If it was a case of no results— we could figure it out.

But the interesting thing I’ve found with partnering with people?

People show you who they are.

Listen as soon as you can, upfront.

Not that people change

But getting on people changing is a losing bet.

Thus…

My advice to people in business partnerships…

Don’t do business with people you don’t love.

Don’t do business with people you don’t know.

And if someone shows you who they are, listen.

But I did learn who to partner with.

And because of that I’ll make hundreds of millions in my life.
